DENTAL TECHNICIAN, SPECIALIZED PROFESSIONAL STUDIES OF SECOND CYCLE
The main goal, which justifies the introduction of the second cycle of professional studies is: professional dental technicians to be able in a short period of time, in the University Dental Clinical Center, in state-of-the-art laboratories to practically improve the production of state-of-the-art dental prosthetics.
The second cycle of professional studies in dentistry will be realized during a one-year curriculum (2 semesters) with a total number of 60 credits. Teaching in all subject programs will be performed through theoretical, practical teaching, seminars and independent research work. The study program is conceived in accordance with the European credit transfer system (ECTS).
By completing the obligations during the study, attending classes, taking exams and defending a professional thesis, the student acquires 60 credits.
The Faculty of Dentistry – Skopje, performs its higher education activity within the space it has at its disposal, but above all on its two teaching bases, namely: Public Health Institution University Dental Clinical Center “St.Pantelejmon,, Skopje and the Public Health Institution University Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery Skopje.
The study program provides two modules.
Module A, which belongs to the scientific field of dental prosthetics and
Module B, which belongs to the scientific field of orthodontics.
The two modules in the first semester have the same subjects, a total of 5. In the second semester, students choose one of two elective modules. Elective modules are related to the scientific field of prosthetics or orthodontics. In each of the modules students have 3 compulsory courses, and with their passing they win a total of 15 ECTS. The student chooses the fourth subject in the second semester from three offered courses and by passing it, the student wins 5 ECTS. As part of the compulsory and elective courses, which are closely related to prosthetics and orthodontics, students also have practical training, in the form of exercises, demonstration of various cases and study research work. The other 10 ECTS, students earn by preparing and defending the final professional thesis. This paper is publicly defended after passing all the еxams. The second cycle of professional specialist studies for dental technicians ends with the preparation and defense of a professional specialist thesis. The professional paper is an independent work of the student, prepared using scientific methodology. It is similar in structure to the master’s thesis, but unlike the master’s thesis, the professional thesis does not have to have a scientific contribution. It should be written on not less than 30 and not more than 70 pages, A4 format, with a font size of 11.
The student after graduation Depending on the module that the student will choose after graduation acquires a professional title:
professional dental technician-specialist in dental prosthetics or professional dental technician-specialist in orthodontics.
